Well, I figured that it was time for a new blog. What a roller coaster ride it has been for the past couple of months with travels to Austin, L.A., Atlanta, D.C. a couple of times, Key West and some places I can’t remember. Lol. Thanks to everyone whose been attending our shows and be sure to check out the updated show calendar on my website.

We were very blessed in the recent flood not to have any damage, but so many of our friends did. Thank goodness, the city has come together and the spirit of Nashville is very strong and things are looking brighter.

I’ve been receiving a lot of emails from fans of The Singing Bee asking when the new season will begin. The first episode of the new season will air immediately after the CMT Music Awards on June 9th. Check out cmt.com for the full schedule.

Tin Pan South 2010 was a highlight for me. I was honored to share a songwriter round with Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member, Bill Medley of the Righteous Brothers, Steve Dorff and Bill Labounty. We had a packed house and Bill Medley sounded great and shared great stories and sang the classic, “You’ve Lost That Lovin Feelin.” It was really cool to see Bill Labounty sing the part of Bobby Hatfield. It was also very cool to have one of my high school teachers, Mrs. Sue Watson in attendance, who just might be the biggest Bill Medley fan on the planet.

The 2010 BMI Key West Songwriters Festival was a fun time. It was my first time performing at the festival. Some of the other writer/artists at the festival were Steve Dorff, Andrew Dorff, Jamey Johnson, Randy Houser, Paul Overstreet, Joey and Rory and Brandon Kinney just to name a few.

It was great having Steve Dorff, John Guess and Larry Herbstritt in town recently for the recording of the string section for the soundtrack of the upcoming Warner Film, A Pure Country Gift. The strings were recorded at Ocean Way Studios. The feature song in the film, “Dream Big”, is a song that I co-wrote with Steve Dorff and it was recorded by Katrina Elam, who stars in the movie with George Strait, Dean Cain and Kaitlyn Dorff. My wife, Candi Carpenter, Singing Bee guitarist, Roger Cain and I make a couple of small cameo appearances. The film will be released to theatres in the fall.

I just returned last week from Washington D.C. where I performed at the Songwriters Caucus Show on Capitol Hill. Some of the other writers included Jeffrey Steele, Clay Mills, Chris Wallin, Victoria Shaw, Danny Wells and Steve Bogard. For the show’s finale, New York Rep. John Hall (formerly with the group, Orleans) sang their hit, “Still The One” and we provided background vocals for John.

The 50th Annual Media Finance Conference was held in Nashville this past week and I used my old radio skills and interviewed Opry legend and Country Music Hall of Fame member, Bill Anderson live on stage at one of the morning sessions. We discussed Bill’s history in Nashville and he shared his thoughts about the future of country music. Bill recently recorded a song that he, Jim Martin and I co-wrote, “Wherever She Is” and it’s available on Bill’s new CD, “Songwriter.” Bill also performed the song on a recent episode of Country’s Family Reunion and it’s also available on DVD. Bill just told me that Johnny Lee from Urban Cowboy fame is singing the song in his shows as well.

In the midst of this crazy schedule, I have been writing a lot of songs. I’ve been working with Steve Wariner, Rachel Bradshaw, Heidi Newfield, Billy Montana, Sam Tate, Candi Carpenter, Shayne Fair, Larry Herbstritt, Brian Davis, Darryl Worley, Sunny Sweeney, Joe Leathers, Lee Brice, Blake Wise, Christy McDonald, Bill Labounty, Wynn Varble, Kyle Jacobs , Little Jimmy Dickens, Robbie Wittkowski and Mark Narmore. Whew, no wonder I’m tired.

Well, I’m going to close for now but thanks so much for your support and thanks to everyone who has purchased a copy of my new CD, “Living In The Wild.” If you don’t have a copy, check out my website at www.bobbytomberlin.com and you can find out details on how to get your copy. Thanks also for the positive comments on The Singing Bee. God Bless and I hope to see you at an upcoming show.
